On Day 3 we couldn't decide whether to ski or snowshoe/hike. The forecast was calling for 60% chance of showers in the afternoon and it would cost over $200 to ski for the day so we opted out of skiing. We drove for an hour out the Maligne Lake Road and chose the Bald Hills hike.
Maligne Lake.
At the first of the 10km hike it didn't seem worth snowshoeing because the trail was patted down. Halfway up the trail we were thankful we kept out snowshoes.
Me: excited...every time I snow shoe or hike or run. I love it and the adrenaline I feel after a great workout, and fresh air, and seeing God's creation.
That is actually Ken's leg stuck in the snow.
Ken was grumpy for the first part of the hike but enjoyed it overall. Can you tell how excited he was?
We started at the bottom near that lake.
This was near the top of the hike. We didn't go beyond the trees after being warned that there could be some avalanche risk. Oops, never even considered looking into that.
This was some clown who went snowshoeing by themselves and was going right up to the peak that could potentially cause an avalanche. Thanks buddy.
We did the Bald Hills hike. Around 10km and a big climb up the mountain but lots of fun coming back down.
On the drive back to Jasper we took a picture looking back at the mountain we climbed. We snowshoed to the top treeline.
When you look at the far left of the photo you can see where the road curves along the mountain.
Ken let me pick out a charm as a souvenir so I picked a colored charm that reminded me of the color of the water.
