- Oct 25 - speech therapy home visit
- Nov 5 - 2nd hearing test with audiology
- Nov 13 - Meeting with infant preschool educator
- Nov. 19 - Ears, Nose, Throat Specialist appointment
- Nov. 20 - speech therapy homevisit
- Nov. 29 - speech therapy home visit
- Nov. 30 - Surgery - tubes put in ears and tongue tie snipped
- Dec. 3 - Pediatrician appointment
This brings us to today with all of Isaac's appointments. We still don't have a specific diagnosis if there even will be something to diagnose. What we have learned since my previous post which I had originally written in early November, is that he had fluid blocking his middle ear and that tubes would be recommended by the ENT. During his surgery they would also snip his tongue tie which may, or may not impact how well he speaks. This surgery was done On November 30. We have seen some improvements already but we are keeping a close eye on him and starting weekly speech therapy sessions at home this week. Hopefully his hearing was the issue with the delayed speech which may have impacted a lot of the other odd behaviors we were seeing.
Today I met with his pediatrician along with the infant preschool educator and it was a comforting appointment. Autism, has for the most part, been mostly ruled out based on his social interaction and awareness. His scores on recent autism screenings were not perfect but didn't cause too much alarm. We are meeting again January 28 to discuss how speech therapy is going and to see how he is progressing. In the meantime we are looking forward to only having speech therapy for appointments this month and the bonus is that the speech therapist will come to our house. Huge sigh...

Wow, you have been busy with all the appointments. So glad they have ruled a few things out, and that you are seeing some improvements. We'll continue to hold you all up in prayer. Keep us posted.

Thanks alot for your post, especially the last one! Isn't it so true how we want, no expect, life to be breezy, easy, perfect! But isn't it also amazing how when you realize that God is the One who is there for us when we come crashing to earth realizing it's not!!
Tracy did mention to me that you were struggling a bit with all the 'stuff' surrounding Isaac. I know it's hard, thinking there is something not right, knowing there is something not right, waiting to hear or not to hear! Overwhelming!! But sounds like you have been really busy with it all! Hopefully, DV, the operation helps and his speech does improve! We had it a bit with Niklaas, he didn't speak properly for AGES, but with speech therapy it worked a bomb! Anyways, won't bore you with all our "STUFF" can't wait to catch up with you for a coffee when I'm in Coaldale!! We can have a good chat then!!
Dear Sheeley! Wow overwhelming to say the least, so thankful for you that you have Ken's family there to help, it makes things so much easier. We hope things all get figurred in the end for little Issac it must be so frustrating, but it seems as some progress has been made. We hope and pray for you and Ken that you will recieve answers and see progress as well, and for Issac too! Thinking aboout you and we will remember you in our prayers. Ang:-)
